Phase Changes
Calorimetry Song - We will not be doing the heat of fusion and heat of vaporization calculations, but the words to this song explain the process of phase changes.

Key Points About Heating and Cooling
1. During a phase change, heat changes, but temperature stays the same.
2. During a phase change, two states of matter exist at the same time.
3. Disorder / choas / entrophy increases with an increase in heat.
4. Changing from a liquid to a solid takes a longer time than changing from a solid to a liquid.
5. Another words for heat is enthalpy.
6. Entrophy decreases when enthalpy decreases.
7. Melting point and freezing point happen at the same temperature depending on if the substance is heating up or cooling down.
8. Condensation point and boiling point happen at the same temperature depending on heating or cooling.
9. Exothermic physical change happens when heat is released and is associated with the cooling curve.
10. Endothermic physical change happens when heat is absorbed and is associated with the heating curve.
